Some of the best examples in the classroom are not only real, but current. Through a variety of experiences, I have the opportunity to talk with students about real business problems and marketing decisions. Besides teaching marketing in higher education...
I opened Joel Evans Photography in 2010. Shortly after opening the photography business, my wife and I positioned ourselves in the wedding/bridal industry. We regularly photographed 10-15 weddings each year, focusing on one each weekend. In more recent years, Jen stepped up as the primary photographer and rebranded our business into Evans Photography LLC which specializes in family portraiture photography.
During the pandemic, I became a project director for Global Development Solutions, overseeing the City of Hubbard's Farmers Market. Now in 2022, the market is entering the 8th season with 30+ farmers, makers, and bakers. As the market manager, I handle all the contracts, paperwork, marketing, and day-to-day operations for the farmers market. This past year, we have expanded our market's reach by partnering with Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership to accept SNAP/EBT payments for fresh fruits and veggies. Due to my role as the market director, I additionally joined a nonprofit board, Shop Hubbard Ohio, to promote local business within our community.
Most recently, I have started more business and marketing consulting work. I have worked on a variety of projects from partnering with our local school system for a levy campaign to our local public library for a strategy to increase foot traffic. I have additionally worked with a variety of small businesses from the home décor industry to the fitness industry with a local gym.
